Over the past two months, Total Security Solutions has featured two of the three stages (Planning and Production) included in our time-tested bulletproof glass manufacturing process. Now that you have a clearer understanding how the bullet resistant barrier moves from planning and into production, it’s time to touch on the final stage – Installation.
Deciding Who Installs Your Bulletproof Glass Barrier System
When it comes to deciding how you go about the installation process, it ultimately boils down to the complexity of the job and the experience of the person you plan to have complete the installation. If you’re installing a barrier in new construction for instance, it might be easier to have the team constructing your building install your new barrier because that way they can add the finishes around the barrier. If, on the other hand, your barrier is part of a remodel or retrofit, you’ll achieve better results working with a team with bullet resistant barrier installation experience.
When it comes to installing a complex custom barrier solution, Total Security Solutions Vice President Jim Richards prefers to have his experienced install team handle the job. With more complex jobs – retrofits, complete systems with multiple elements – the care and high quality standards the team at Total Security Solutions takes during the Planning and Production stages pays off during Installation. The engineers and project managers understand the importance of safety while not sacrificing aesthetics, so when working on a custom job, they measure to 1/16 of an inch in multiple areas of the install area. This means you’ll be getting a pre-fab system with little to no tolerance for error. If you have no experience with the ballistic materials used for the barrier system, it’s a good idea to handle the install job off to the team at Total Security Solutions or another qualified contractor or carpenter. Doing so will save you time and money in the long run – especially if you’re in a situation where you need to make changes on the fly in the field.
When it’s all said and done, if you purchase a security barrier or other bulletproof products from Total Security Solutions, our team will be able to recommend the appropriate route for your installation needs. After all, the most important thing about installing a bullet resistant barrier system is to make sure it offers safety and protection for the people who use your building on a daily basis.
