Acrylic bulletproof glass offers a high level of visual clarity at a lower weight compared to other bulletproof door options. However, acrylic is not weather-resistant, so acrylic bulletproof doors are only recommended for interior applications. Bulletproof acrylic glazing is also easily damaged by conventional glass cleaner. Adding a protective coating is one way to avoid damage known as “crazing,” another is to use a non-abrasive cleaner. You can also choose all-glass doors, which are slightly more heavy and are also best suited for exterior environments.

The most commonly-used firearm in America is a handgun. For many facilities, a bulletproof door at UL Level 1, 2, or 3—all of which protect from handgun fire—is the right level of protection.
