We can fabricate custom bulletproof doors as a slab or with full vision, half vision, side, or view lites. Most custom doors are one of our standard sizes, but we also have experience fabricating unique and oversized doors.

Glass doors have a sleek look that fits well in high-end spaces like offices. Bulletproof steel doors are a more robust, practical option.

One of the most important things to remember is that ballistic doors are heavier and often thicker than non-ballistic options. Your door will likely need specialized hardware and framing to accommodate the additional weight and thickness.
Bulletproof Hardware Options

Hardware Options

The factors that most limit your choice of hardware are a door's thickness and design style. Generally, wood and steel doors offer the most flexibility for hardware options. Hardware considerations include:

  • Locks and strikes: TSS offers hardware options in-house. But, with the proper planning, we can fabricate your door to accommodate separately purchased locks and strikes.
  • Hinges: We typically recommend using a continuous hinge for the best long-term value and operability. If you prefer, we can design your door to use a continuous pin-and-barrel hinge instead.
  • Closers: An LSDA surface-mounted closer can be easily adapted to the weight of a ballistic door. They are usually more practical than auto-closers. 
  • Push bars: Since a push bar interacts with all of the door's systems, they can be tricky to incorporate. TSS can help you design a door that uses a push bar or panic bar, but will likely increase the cost.
Bulletproof Framing Options

Framing Options

Bulletproof framing supports the door's weight, protects the spaces between it and the wall, and helps the door blend in with the surrounding aesthetic. TSS offers three types of frames.

  • Aluminum: These frames offer a sleek look and can be painted or given an anodized finish for a fully customized look.
  • Stainless steel: Typically used with steel or wood doors, steel frames have a more industrial look and can be a more economical option.
  • Hollow metal: These frames are made from steel and reinforced with ballistic fiberglass. Hollow metal frames offer multiple frame depths for maximum customization.

Finish Options

We can ship a door fully-finished or primed and ready to paint onsite.

  • Aluminum doors: Doors are typically completed with a clear satin or dark bronze anodized finish. Custom powder coat paint or specialty Kynar paint colors are also available to seamlessly match your existing building design.
  • Wood doors: The wood veneer or laminate can be stained or painted to seamlessly match the rest of your space.
  • Steel doors: TSS can ship your door primed, painted, or with a polished stainless steel finish.
  • Glass and Acrylic doors:These doors are polished for a smooth edge and ship with all hardware installed. Depending on the bulletproof glazing used, we can also add a protective coating to reduce susceptibility to crazing or hazing.

We can fully customize your door with accessories to ensure your door is functional and secure.

  • Talk Thrus and Voice Ports: All clear talk thrus facilitate natural sound transmission for interior spaces. Stainless steel voice ports are suitable for interior or exterior use.
  • Currency Trays: Quickly and safely pass cash or documents through a secure stainless steel tray. 
  • Package Passers: Pass larger items and through a stainless steel or acrylic passer built right into your bulletproof door.
  • Peek Holes or Viewers: Safely see what's on the other side of the door before you open it. We can prep your door to accommodate your specified viewer or source one for you.

Oversized Bulletproof Doors

Custom Interior Doors for a Top-Tier Corporation

We created these completely custom doors for a corporate facility. Instead of using individual panes of ballistic glazing for each door lite, we used a single piece of monolithic acrylic and visually divided them with false muntins that we built from scratch, precisely blended to the surface of the door. These doors are reinforced with bullet-resistant fiberglass and integrated into a building-wide access control system. They are also indistinguishable from any other door in the building.

Level 8 Doors for Government Guard Booths

TSS stepped in at the last minute to create custom doors for government guard booths. Our client needed booths with Level 8 ballistic security that offered enhanced security against high-powered rifle fire, ramming attacks, or prolonged attempts to breach the building. We designed and fabricated a door that perfectly matched the originals, despite being twice as thick and heavy. And, we did it in just eight weeks, despite ongoing supply chain difficulties at the time.
