Bulletproof Glass Door Product Details: Varying Levels of Protection & Sizes to Meet Your Needs

These doors are fabricated using glass-clad polycarbonate (GCP) 1250 and are meticulously designed and cut according to your exact specifications. Standard sizes are 3' 0" x 7' 0", 3' 0" x 8' 0" and 6 '0" x 7' 0", with double doors and custom sizes available upon request.

These unique, all-glass bulletproof doors have been tested to Underwriter Laboratories (UL) 752 standards for bulletproof protection Levels 1, 2, and 3, which can stop fire from the most common types of handguns. This also makes them the first frameless glass security doors with ballistic protection as well as forced-entry protection to deliver a more attack-resistant barrier.

Standard all-glass door hardware consists of top and bottom mounting brackets, pivot hinges, surface closers, locking mechanisms, and pull handles. Hardware typically must be stronger than standard door hardware options, which is why we carefully select only the most durable security products for your bulletproof glass door project.

Will People Notice the Difference Between GCP 1250 and Regular Glass?

Most casual observers and office visitors won't be able to distinguish GCP 1250 from the standard glass they walk past every day. The glass-clad exterior gives these doors the same clean, reflective appearance as conventional all-glass entryways, so your space maintains the open, modern aesthetic you designed it for with additional layers of security folded into the infrastructure.

The glass end caps not only complete the look of these commercial doors but also protect the polycarbonate core from everyday wear: dings, scratches, environmental stress, and the cleaning solvents custodial teams use routinely. That keeps your investment looking sharp over the long haul.

Protection that blends in. Durability that holds up. That's Safety + Aesthetics™.

What UL Level is Most Recommended for Bullet-Resistant Glass Doors?

UL 752 Level 3 is the most commonly recommended protection level for all-glass bullet-resistant doors. Level 3 doors are independently tested to stop multiple shots (at least three) from a .44 Magnum handgun, making their ballistic performance well-suited for corporate offices, healthcare facilities, schools, and financial institutions facing the most common types of handgun threats.

GCP 1250 all-glass doors tested to Level 3 weigh around 220 pounds and have a 1¼" thickness, keeping them manageable to install and compatible with a wide range of hardware and access control options.

Choosing the Right Ballistic Glass Door: Weighing Your Design Options for Bullet Resistance

The type of bulletproof door you choose depends on your unique needs and preferences. Acrylic bulletproof doors offer a similar level of protection, but a different aesthetic experience. Acrylic doors also require the use of special cleaners, as bulletproof acrylic can be damaged by commercial cleaners and solvents. Glass bulletproof doors are not susceptible to that type of damage and offer sleeker aesthetic options that balance form and function without sacrificing either.

Frequently Asked Questions About Bulletproof Glass Doors

How much does a bulletproof glass door cost?

All-glass bulletproof doors can start around $10,000 or more, as they are among the most complex of bulletproof doors to engineer and fabricate. Note that this bulletproof door pricing doesn't include factors like freight, framing, and installation costs.

Do offices use bullet-resistant glass doors?

Yes, modern offices are increasingly using bullet-resistant glass doors as part of a layered physical security strategy for high-level protection. These doors help control access, delay entry, and provide enhanced security against threats while maintaining a clean, professional appearance.

How do ballistic and forced-entry resistance work together in glass door designs?

Ballistic and forced-entry protection address two distinct but related threats: stopping bullets and resisting physical breach. GCP 1250 is engineered to deliver both in a single all-glass door system. This dual-purpose design means that whether a threat involves gunfire or an attempt to physically break through, your defenses are working together for maximum protection.

Can you get bulletproof glass doors for your home?

Yes, bullet-resistant glass doors can be installed in residential settings, but they’re typically reserved for high-risk environments or homeowners with elevated security concerns. At Total Security Solutions, we specialize in commercial-grade ballistic systems for corporate offices, financial institutions, healthcare facilities, schools, and government buildings.

Can access control be added to exterior and interior ballistic doors?

Yes. Access control systems can be integrated into bullet-resistant glass doors at both exterior entry points and interior locations throughout your facility, creating multiple layers of protection. This layered approach, controlling who moves through your building from the front door to the interior areas, can also be valuable in demonstrating your organization's due diligence.

Are bullet-resistant doors often used in conjunction with bullet-resistant windows?

Yes, bullet-resistant doors are often installed in combination with ballistic windows as part of a layered security strategy. While a ballistic door can delay or stop a threat, it’s most effective as a defense when paired with surrounding elements that offer the same level of protection for offices, retailers, and more.

When should bullet-resistant glazing be installed during construction?

Ballistic glazing should be installed last. Think of it the way you'd think of carpet: you wouldn't lay it before the drywall is painted. Because ballistic components arrive as finished goods, installing them too early puts them at risk of scratches, dings, and chemical damage from other trades working on-site.
